30 Days of December: 5

Well a happy belated MERRY CHRISTMAS to those who celebrate it!!!!! I was supposed to post this yesterday but obviously due to the holiday I was busy hehe. On to the meme!

Days 1-5 | Days 6-10 | Days 11-15 | Days 15-20

Day 21: A recipe

This is a rice crispy equivalent, except you use Corn Flakes instead of Rice Crispies and it's mostly made around Christmas because you make it into a wreath shape.
(Usually there is one big wreath made instead of individual little ones). I want to share this with everyone because it is sooooo good, and such a big part of my early childhood Christmas memories. Whenever I think of Christmas as a little girl, this treat always comes to mind and for a while my aunt stopped making it, so yesterday on Christmas when she showed up with two plates of it, me and my cousins and sister freaked out over it because we hadn't had it in so long. :) It's just so tasty!

Day 22: A website
My Tumblr! I was really defiant against getting a tumblr, I don't really know why, but I got one now and I really like it! It's a lot like Livejournal but LJ is still waaaaaaaaay better because you can filter things so that your friends "feed" isn't all cluttered and there's profiles and user pics and communities and yeah I was supposed to be promoting tumblr lol.

Day 23: A Youtube video

I love this performance of theirs! And my favorite Sooyoung looks GORGEOUS as hell here! ^_^

Day 24: Whatever tickles your fancy

I chose this performance out of all their other Christmas performances because I thought it was cute! Plus the "Jingle Bell Rock" at the end is awesome because of SHINee and f(x)! First of all Amber from f(x) was still around and not M.I.A! And although I kind of hate the fact that they treat her like a boy (I mean I know she prefers to dress/look masculine, and I"m all for that, I LOVE Amber, but when they actually TREAT her like a boy by dressing her in a MALE hanbok that's just crossing the line for me, because no matter how masculine she chooses to dress, she still is a GIRL and when it comes to traditional hanbok, they should've dressed her in a female hanbok! After all she's in a girl group!) I thought it was really cute that she sang the part with Jonghyun and Onew hehe. :) Plus Luna+Taeyeon sing together - the best voices of kpop (though honestly I think Luna's voice is better), and then there's the Jung sisters who sing together too! ^_^ Overall, just a really cute performance. :)

Day 25: Your day, in great detail
I actually won't go into great detail because I'm trying to work on not rambling too much. This Christmas was so awesome. I helped my mom all day with decorating the house and wrapping billions of presents because this was the first time in forever that we were having a family party at my house (because my mom was finally back to host it). It was fun, I got to see family members I hadn't seen in forever, and I wore this blue dress that I promised my little brother I'd wear lol, but the real reason why this Christmas was so awesome was because of my Christmas presents.

I know, I know, it sounds so materialistic, but the thing that I love was the fact that my mom got me almost EVERYTHING from my Ultimate Christmas Wish List!!! I titled that my "Ultimate" Christmas "Wish" List because I honestly never thought I'd get any of those things, (I even said that in the original post), and I would've been fine with not getting those things because I didn't expect them AT ALL, but seriously my mom got me like almost the entire list!

Cowboy boots? Check. Red boots? Check. Uggs? (Or the ~fake equivalents) Check. Subscription to Entertainment Weekly? Check! SNSD Hoot poster? CHECK! CN Blue poster? CHECK! EDIT: Gladiator sandals? Check. SNSD Calendar? CHECK! Plus many other things, I was just really blown away by the fact that my mom actually read the list, and got me the things I wanted! I never expected her to actually get my kpop posters or a subscription, etc.

Earlier in the week my mom suggested I blog about something (that I've been meaning to blog about anyway) and I felt a little weirded out by the fact that she read my blog. I mean, I do link to it on Facebook every time I update, but I never thought she would take the time to actually read it, especially since she was in Iraq this whole time. Now I see that she really does read my blog, thoroughly too, and it really paid off and now I'm not "weirded out" by it but really thankful. It was just such a rewarding Christmas and the fact that my mom is back just made it so much better. Family parties just weren't the same without her.

Okay so there's only one more post about this meme before I start blogging back to normal and stuff! ^^ This was the Christmas edition post, so the next one will be the New Year's edition post! :)

30 Days of December: 4

I promise more interesting blog posts will be coming, I've just been so busy with finals and traveling back to Texas for winter break, and Christmas shopping ahhh. I'm so excited for Christmas though! :)

Days 1-5 here | Days 2-10 here | Days 11-15 here

Day 16: A Song That Makes You Cry (or Nearly)

What's this, not a Kpop song?! :O Yeah I also listen to American (Tegan & Sara are Canadian) English music, ikr, seems impossible given my Korean obsession. -_-
This is THE song I automatically listen to whenever I'm sad. Why is it that people tend to listen to sad music when they're feeling sad - shouldn't we listen to happy music to cheer us up? lol idk. I just love this song it's so beautiful and...perfect. I almost like the demo version a bit more than the official version though because both of them sing together and the contrast of their voices is so beautiful! These lines are my favorite:
"Maybe I would've been something you'd be good at
Maybe you would've been something I'd be good at"

It's just gahh, something that goes through my head a lot of the times.

I don't know how Tegan & Sara just KNOW how I/their listeners feel, they just know and manage to convey their/our emotions so perfectly. HOW DO THEY KNOW?! How can their songs relate so well to me/everyone?! I still remember when I first heard this song, I instantly got chills; the way it starts off is just so musically beautiful and they're just so perfect! (and srsly I need to find different words to describe things).

And now for the inevitable kpop/snsd song lol. (I'm sorry I just can't help it, kpop has taken over my life!!)
SNSD - Into the New World

This song almost makes me cry because this was the absolute perfect song for them to debut with. I'll admit it took me a while to warm up to this song at first (because the first SNSD songs I was exposed to were their more poppy "Gee" and "Oh!" types) but this song is just so strong that's the word I find best fits this song. It showcased their vocals AND dancing so well, it is definitely their strongest song in both aspects and truly shows that they are THE girls of the generation. (See their full dance version here).
I may not have been there to support SNSD from the beginning, but I'm still a huuuuge S♥NE and I know the struggles these girls have been through to get to where they are now. It's so rewarding as a fan to see how much they've grown and to see them STILL performing this song; it's their growth from that promise of being a generation of girls to the ultimate girl group on top with an unwavering bond between the nine of them - that's the thing that almost makes me cry! Proud Sone here :)

Day 17: An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Umm okay lol. Here's a picture of the Venus de Milo I took at the Louvre even though we were instructed not to lol :x

Day 18: Whatever tickles your fancy

Lol this is totally the "Clueless" of this generation, such an iconic movie. And now whenever I hear "Jingle Bell Rock" I can't help but think of this scene always!

Day 19: A talent of Yours
Ummm my talent is writing and complaining...so here's a link of one of my most recent articles doing both...A Crime Not Worth Solving. It's a book review on the worst book I've ever read in my entire life!!!!!!!

Day 20: A hobby of Yours
Definitely scrapbooking.

This was posted a day later -_- OMFG only 4 days until Christmas, so excited!!! :D

30 Days of December: 3

I found this other December meme that was more Christmas-themed and I kinda wish I would've done that one instead but oh well, this one's still fun too! :)

Days 1-5 here & Days 6-10 here.

Day 11: A Photo of You Taken Recently

This is me and my roommate Emmie. I'm on the right. And we are decked out in Harry Potter paraphernalia...because we were at the Deathly Hallows Part 1 midnight premiere hehe.

Day 12: Whatever tickles your fancy
I kinda don't like these "whatever" days but oh well, I didn't make the meme. So I'll post a Christmas-themed video! :D

3/4 of my favorite Super Junior members (just missing Sungmin!) singing "Feliz Navidad" makes my Mexican heart happy!♥ ♥ ♥

Day 13: A fictional book
It would've been totally obvious and sadly overdone for me to say "Harry Potter, duh" so instead I decided I'd recommend a book I read for the first time this year and was sadly missing out on this entire time.

There's just something about this book, there was not real plot...it was just a story about these 5 sisters and their suicides, but it was written so poetically, so hauntingly beautiful (just as the girls were). It is definitely a good read and I couldn't put it down from the very first page. There's also a movie of it starring Kirsten Dunst, I've never seen it but I'm loading it up now so I can watch it soon; from what someone's described to me, it's pretty accurate.

Day 14: A non-fictional book
Okay this one IS Harry Potter related, sorry can't help it!

I loved this book so much because it described the birth of Harry Potter fandom from a fan's perspective, yet she climbed up to being an insider with J.K. Rowling! Reading this book just gave me all kinds of nostalgia and makes you really appreciate the world J.K. Rowling has created.♥
I'll post a quote from JKR that I absolutely love because it soooo describes the reason why I adore Harry Potter:
"When all the fuss and hoopla dies away...I think it will be seen that this phenomenon was generated, in the first instance, by kids loving a book. A book went on shelves, and a few people loved it. When all of the smoke and lights die away, that's what you'll be left with."
So beautiful and so true. <3 Harry Potter may be this super huge franchise now, but it was first and foremost a truly wonderful book series, and THAT'S what fans love the most about "Harry Potter."

Day 15: A fanfic
Uh seriously? I don't read fanfic anymore so I'm not going to pretend I do and go looking for one to post here, sorry!
Instead I'll leave you with this video of BEAST/B2ST performing "Beautiful" outside in a winter setting? :D I love this song, it's so cute!!!!

I wanna learn the dance and it's just so cute! Gahh I'm so in love with them right now but it's kinda sad that they're named "Beast" and I prefer this cute image of them rather than their beastly one hahaha.

Okay so halfway through with this 30 day meme, that means I'm halfway through December! :O

30 Days of December: 2

Okay so here are Days 6 - 10 of the 30 Days of December meme I'm doing. The first 5 Days can be found here. :)

Day 6: Whatever tickles your fancy
So since I have a freebie...and I love SNSD...and Christmas is coming up, here's a lovely video of baby!Soshi performing one of my favorite songs of theirs "Girls' Generation" in cute Christmas outfits. :)

"Don't tease me because I'm young"
I love when Sooyoung and Fany give Hyoyeon a kiss :) Awww this was back when they weren't worked to death so they don't look tired and actually have all this energy to dance and sing so well. T_T

Day 7: A Photo that Makes You Happy

This is an old picture (and lol at the fact that my camera had the option to tint photos blue) - but I absolutely love it because it shows that I was so passionate to be a journalist even 5 years ago. This is an old high school friend Doriana reading my only issue of "Loudspeaker Magazine" a magazine I tried to create in high school lol (and I thought I was soooo cool and clever because I made it go from right to left instead of left to right hahaha!) This, and the fact that I genuinely LOVE going to my Journalism class and learning about anything journalism-related pretty much affirms the fact that I was destined to be a journalist and that's why I love this photo. :)

Day 8: A Photo that Makes You Angry/Sad

SHE'S STILL A BABY SHE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE A BIG GIRL BED YET!!!!!!!!! :( :( :(
My niece is growing up without me to watch it. :( At least I got to see her first year? :( :( :(
This (below) is what she looked like LAST December! :( Now she's sooooo big. :(

Day 9: A Photo You Took

This picture may be blurry as shit, but I will never get over how close I was to perfection.♥ How lucky was I to be able to run into my FAVORITE actress ever on the first time I ever visit New York?! ♥

Day 10: A Photo of You More Than 10 Years Ago

Sorry, since I'm at my dorm this is the only one I have with me (I scanned it from my scrapbook which is why there may be marks all over the picture). It's like 15 years ago lol when I graduated Kindergarten! :D

So those were the past 5 days, the other 20 will come in a few more posts. :)

This is NOT Okay

So, there's been rumors going around that SNSD's Jessica was inappropriately touched during the 12th Annual Korea-China Song Festival that took place on December 2. You can read the article here.

There is no hard proof (meaning you can't actually SEE his actions) of the man touching Sica, but there are SO MANY other signs in the video that make it pretty obvious that something inappropriate occurred. There are videos where you can see all these signs and reactions.

Here is a fancam of the event. There is a guy who sidles in behind Sica around 0:10 and from then on she immediately begins to look super uncomfortable and looks back to see behind her many times as she tries to scoot closer to Hyoyeon and Sooyoung.

Many people theorize that the guy touched/groped her before she had the microphone and she was trying to get away, but couldn't because of the close quarters they were in so she decided to grab the microphone to draw attention to herself/that area in hopes that the man wouldn't touch her again.
You can see as soon as she's done giving the speech, she immediately whispers something to Hyoyeon and she gasps and looks disgusted and glares at the man. Sica then moves over to Sooyoung and whispers to her too, drawing a gasp from Sooyoung and a look in the man's direction too, meanwhile the man has begun to sidle away from the situation because he knows Sica has just told someone.

This next video is the highest quality and longer so you can see the girls' shocked/disgusted expressions (and Sica's uncomfortable expression) clearer. (You'll have to fast forward to about 4:20). You can't really see the man well in this video, but you do see a more detailed reaction from the girls afterward, like how Sica tries to keep a smiling face but can't, and Hyoyeon gathers the group together and they scurry away together after Sica has told them what happened.

101202 한중가요제 ending from yoyoyuan on Vimeo.

You also see Jonghyun and Key from SHINee sort of picking up what happened and looking a bit shocked as they sort of stand guard there to prevent the guy from following the girls should he be stupid enough to do so.

Anyway, that's the breakdown of the accusation and why many believe Sica was molested; but that wasn't the main reason for this post.

And before anyone tries to tell me that it wasn't "molestation" - molestation is a form of being touched sexually or inappropriately without a person's consent - so yes, Sica was molested.

I am absolutely horrified that the two biggest SNSD sites Soshified and Soompi Forums refuse to allow discussion of this matter for fear of "embarrassing Sica even more." How does that even make sense?!?! What's worse is that the only site that is talking about it is AllKPop and all the commenters there are 13-year-old trolls who are literally jealous of the girl idols for being close to their precious oppas!

I understand that Soshified and Soompi are trying to do good by not bringing more negative press to SNSD, because they have a lot of haters, but this is NOT a situation that should be taken lightly. They, and the Korean public in general I suppose, are just trying to sweep this under the rug as if it's a situation people will just pretend never happened. A lot of people have even been saying that things like groping happen daily and that we should just get over it because it's no big deal. But just because people kill daily, does that mean we should just sit back and let it happen? NO!

These websites are actually hurting the idols they're trying to protect personally. By not allowing fans to discuss it and be outraged you're only showing Sica that she doesn't have the fan support she thought she had. We should be the voice she most likely doesn't have under contract in situations such as this.

Most importantly, the lack of immediate response or the fact that people are trying to keep this all "hush hush" otherwise Sica will harm the image of SNSD and SME is disgusting! People always rag on victims for "victimizing" themselves and blaming themselves, but it's exactly this type of attitude that causes that! For example, say Sica did decide to speak up about this and it caused SNSD negative publicity and cause them to get more haters for some absurd reason, people will begin blaming her for having the nerve to speak up about feeling violated, therefore they're making her to blame when it shouldn't be her fault!

Another thing that makes me so mad is those people who say she was "asking for it" by dressing "that way" or being in SNSD who's a big group of sluts, but when in the world did dressing like a slut (which is subjective...) ever make it okay to be molested? Even in strip clubs they have strict rules about not touching the girls. Whether a girl is covered up from head to toe or completely naked, it is NEVER okay to touch her without consent, EVER.

The fact that society (Korean society, online society, etc) is just trying to sweep this under the rug or tell her/us to suck it up and deal with it is so horrid! Think of how Sica must feel, being molested and being told to suck it up? It's like a slap in the face and makes someone feel insignificant! How are women in general supposed to feel okay about speaking up about situations like this when society's reaction will be "Oh just suck it up, hush hush"?

I don't care if I'm not a huge, well known blogger, I'm speaking about this because that's how it starts. As long as many of us speak up OUTSIDE of Soshified or Soompi, hopefully Sica will see that she does have fans that are willing to support her by speaking up about this and know that we won't simply take this "hush hush" manner! I'm sorry, I just feel strongly about a subject like this, I know how it feels. Speaking about sexual molestation creates awareness and it's just a step closer to allowing all women to be unafraid to speak up! We need to change that now. Speaking up, even about a situation that isn't personal, just speaking about Sica's situation and supporting her is enough, it's a start!

30 Days of December: 1

There's this 30 Days of December meme going around so I decided to do it. :) Except instead of doing it daily I'll do 5 days at a time because I can't keep up with them every day haha. So here goes:

Day 1 - Your Favorite Song
This is hard and it fluctuates all the time haha but I'll answer this in two parts, one is favorite song EVER, and the other will be current favorite song.

Favorite Song Ever
Mates of State - Ha Ha (The embedding is disabled :( )

I always say this is my favorite song ever because it was the first song that made me fall in love with Mates of State, who I consider my favorite band EVER. Even if I don't listen to them every day like I do SNSD, I still consider them my favorite because when I DO listen to them again it's just like gahhh I remember why I like them so much because they're so good!

Favorite Song Currently

SNSD & Super Junior - Seoul Song
I had to do a persuasive speech on a place to visit and naturally, I chose (South) Korea and I came across this video and instantly fell in love with it! I love the positivity and cheerfulness it portrays (which is one of the positive aspects I said of Korea) and used it in my speech. Plus it's so pretty and inspiring! :D

Day 2 - Your Favorite Movie
I have 3 top favorites:
The Devil Wears Prada

It has to do with a magazine, me=journalist, it caught my interest. Pretty clothes & pretty scenery, pretty boy, I was hooked. :P

Empire Records

UMM THIS MOVIE IS JUST AMAZING OKAY?! My mom got me this movie for Christmas a few years ago (I think I got my laptop the same year) - probably the two best Christmas presents ever! Ugh they don't make movies like this anymore :( I miss 90's movies sooooo much!!!!

High School Musical 3: Senior Year

I like the third one more than the other two. And secondly, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK WHAT ANYONE THINKS, I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE TO DEATH. Seriously, I don't care if it's childish or "so gay" or whatever else ignorant people have to say. It's cute, it's fun, it's entertaining, it's a musical which I love, with the most gorgeous couple ever, what more can people ask for? And as far as story lines go this third movie had the best one (most realistic one) of them all mkay?! I seriously love this franchise so much, I even made background stories for all the background characters that don't even have names lol to fit the differences from the second movie to the third, don't judge me! D: I literally watched HSM3 daily for MONTHS after I got it because I love it that much. I think it might be the fact that when it came out I wasn't in school and was really feeling depressed because of the whole previous St. John's mess and this just cheered me up but made me feel nostalgic at the same time and I don't care I just love it! I don't owe anyone an explanation!

Day 3 - Your Favorite Television Program
I seriously LOVE TV and have waaay too many favorite tv shows but my ALL TIME favorite TV show has to be GREEK!!!!!! Ugh I will never get over how PERFECT this tv show is but how underrated it is! It is seriously such a good show because it is SO consistent with its plot and it always stays true to their characters and ugh it's so perfect and so good and people are missing out!!!

Aside from that, right now, the only tv show that hasn't disappointed me so far and is actually REALLY good right now is The Vampire Diaries.

Other shows that I love are How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, Grey's Anatomy, and classic older ones like The O.C.

Also, a Korean TV show that I LOVE is You Are My Destiny!!!!

I swear if it wasn't for this soap opera I would've never grown to like Yoona as much as I do now, I used to dislike her a lot but now I love her thanks to this drama. Korean soap operas are waaaaay better than American ones, their plotlines are way more creative and just so interesting! Argh I haven't finished watching this show because the internet at school is so slow I don't have the patience for it so I can't wait to go home so I can finish this drama!

Day 4 - Your Favorite Book

Lol is this even a question? HARRY POTTER. Hands down, always, forever, infinity. I will never be able to accurately describe the effect Harry Potter has had on my life, but I will always say that it's made me who I am today. I know it's sounds weird as fuck, but it's true. It may not be a literary masterpiece, but it's a truly wonderful book series that will live on for generations and generations.
Other favorites include Wicked, The Perks of Being A Wallflower, and The Virgin Suicides.

Day 5 - Your favorite quote
"I fucking love New York. You're never alone but you're always on your own." - Leighton Meester♥
God I love that woman. She's sooo right too!

"I'm a poet. I understand the power of words." - Ben (played by Rupert Grint♥) in "Driving Lessons" - such a cute, underrated, coming-of-age movie <3 "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite." - Charlie, from The Perks of Being A Wallflower I love this book for it's simplicity and I'm just waiting for the moment when I can feel exactly like Charlie feels in the moment he's describing in this quote. I feel like I haven't felt that moment yet, where you feel you're infinite and that moment can last forever.

Those were the first 5 days of the 30 Days of December meme, here are the rest!

My Ultimate Christmas Wish List!

Now that it's December, I decided to post my ultimate Christmas list (meaning I'll probably get NONE of these items). I'm one of those people that knows what they want so when people ask me what I want I never say "I don't know, just get me whatever." NO not for me lol, I have a legit list in my mind and I tell you what I think you can get me with a reasonable price lol.

Anyway here's my wishlist. I'm going to try and put them in order of most desired to least desired (though I do want them all soo badly).

1. A subscription to Elle Girl Korea

Who cares if I can't read a word that's written in the magazines, as long as I get pretty photoshoots of my kpop idols that's all I care about. ♥ Plus, now that I'm taking Korean next semester, hopefully this'll help me learn the language faster! (I'm already learning how to read hangul, just gotta know what the words mean! lol) But ugh here is the index page for the Elle Girl Korea website but I have nooooo idea where the "subscribe" button is or anything, damn my lack of Korean! :( :(

2. Cowboy Boots

Maybe it's the fact that being in New York has made me more affectionate towards my Texan roots, but I find myself wanting a pair of cowboy boots soooo badly lately. I really want brown ones with a bit of a heel. Idk what I'd wear them with but I really want them!!! The only thing is that they seem to be really expensive, even online. :/

Also, it might be because Ted Mosby from How I Met Your Mother totally "pulls them off", but I also want a pair of red boots hehehe!

3. A subscription to Entertainment Weekly

A WEEKLY magazine full of things I find interesting, full of the subject I currently write about in my school newspaper? Uhm perfect for an aspiring journalist like myself!

4. KPOP Posters/Merchandise
OMG OMG PLEASE I WANT THESE SO BADLY OMG!!!!!!! I would TOTALLY put these higher up on the list but they're a bit impractical other than to decorate my dorm & stuff lmao. BUT OMG SERIOUSLY THERE'S NO OTHER REASON OTHER THAN PLEASE I WANT THESE SO BADLY PLEASE!!!!

4a. Posters
I REALLY want the new SNSD "Hoot" poster that I found on eBay for $5 here because as much as I love my RDR and Oh! ones, they're a bit outdated (lol not really) but the Hoot one is fierce AND colorful (whereas Oh! was only colorful, and RDR was only fierce). Ah who am I kidding, I just want a new SNSD poster! It's awesome!!!!

But since I already have 2 SNSD posters, I would really like other posters of the groups I love like CN Blue or 2PM! I would LOOOOVE any of these CN Blue posters because they were the first boy group that I fell in love with!

They're the typical Yesasia.com posters (click on the picture for link) that are like $11 dollars (though there's free international shipping!), and I found this other one on eBay for $5 plus shipping! ^_^

The only type of 2PM poster(s) I liked I found on eBay here for about $10 (plus shipping) and they come in a "package" deal. I'd really love "Type 1"!

Then there's this poster of all the SM artists I saw at SM Town LA this year! This would really just be wonderful to have, as a momento of my first kpop concert, and I just love all the artists here, and gahh yeah lol. The only thing that sucks is that it's like $25 on Yesasia! :/

4b. Calendar

I really want the new SNSD WALL calendar (not desk one), and I found it HERE for $17!!!! (eBay had it at $30).

4c. Stickers/Cell Phone Charms
Okay these are probably the least important but OMFG I WANT THEM SOOOOOO BADLY!!!!!!!!! THEY'RE SO CUTE AND ADORABLE AND OMG I CAN CARRY THEM AROUND WITH ME EVERYWHERE AND GAHH I LOVE STICKERS AND CELL PHONE CHARMS!!!! PLEASE SOMEONE GET THEM FOR MEE!! /capslock

Seriously aren't they SO cute?! You can see bigger pictures by clicking on the images themselves and going to the source. The first ones come with 8 images of SNSD, while the second one is of individual members! I REALLY want Sooyoung, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, and Yoona! ♥ Ahh who am I kidding, I actually want ALL of them, seriously!!!

Lastly, there are stickers! I just love stickers and want to put them in my scrapbook, on my laptop, etc. These would just be great stocking stuffers. ^_^

WOW I'm obsessed with KPop SNSD. :x ANYWAY on to the rest of the list!

5. Purses

Okay after that looong mega specific post, I'll try to be more general. A have this hidden obsession with bags and shoes and I have soo many, but I always want more. After moving to my dorm I had to pick and choose which bags and shoes to take, but while I was here I realized that I don't have a black or white purse! So that's what I want. I looked on Kohls.com and found two really cute Vera Wang bags that I want on sale for about $50!

Though of course with this I'm a lot more flexible, pretty much any bag will do as long as it's big! I hate small purses lol. And although I'd looooooove any color/pattern bag I really need a black or white one.

6. Shoes

Again, people don't know the secret obsession I have with shoes. If I REALLY listed every pair of shoes I wanted, this list would be never ending, because there's a pair of peep-toe Christian Louboutins that I looove right now, but I won't even bother listing that on my ultimate Christmas list, that's like on the IMPOSSIBLE Christmas wish list lmao. I really wanna start wearing heels but I only have one pair so I don't have much variety to mix with my outfits (when I actually dress up lmao). I can't wait to go home and steal a few pairs from my mom hehe.

6a. Uggs

Anyway, I really want a pair of Uggs, or just comfy boots. Everyone here has them and they slip them on all the time and I'm just like "Ugh hold on let me tie my shoes" or something lmao, so I want comfy, convenient shoes! :)

6b. Gladiator sandals

Ugh for the longest time I've wanted a pair of these sandals and I've never gotten them! I don't care if they're suddenly out of style this summer, I'm still gonna wear them if I get them! I especially want long, gold ones like this:

Truthfully there is so much more, I always want more, I'm a typical American. However, these are seriously the things that I REALLY want right now, aside from, you know, MONEY to be able to buy them for myself lmao. Ugh now I sound completely greedy and materialistic, I swear I'm not! This is just a WISH list, and I'd be completely happy with whatever I get! Going home is seriously just enough for me right now. :) Really, I never thought I'd be this homesick so I can't wait until I go home for the holidays.

Anyway, I hope you all get what you want on your wish lists, and have a fun happy December! :)

My Proudest Accomplishment

This is something that I've wanted to write about for a while because it was a big deal for me. First I must preface this with an in-class assignment we had in my journalism class. We were to interview each other and write a 250 word article on something interesting that we found out through the interview. Later our professor posted them online and showed a few on the screen in class so we can read. A few people had complaints that their stories were inaccurate or they were misunderstood, and then mine (the story ABOUT me, not the one I wrote) was displayed in class. My professor asked me if I had any complaints/if she got anything wrong but I said, "Nope, she pretty much got me perfectly, to a T." So I want to share the story with you all, it's short.

"Setting Trends in Texas"
By Kelly Japsi

Abigail Hernandez or “Abby” an aspiring magazine owner is not the typical St. John’s freshman, for one she is 20 years old, not the standard age for a freshman coming into college. Like many she is a resident student, but her story getting here is quite interesting. Abigail comes from El Paso, Texas, which is mostly populated by Mexican residents, including Abigail and her family. People in her town hardly ever leave, but Abigail knew early that she would not be one of those people; her thirst for diversity and future career brought her to bustling, face paced city of New York.

Her family having been in Texas all their lives were very reluctant to have their oldest child leave home. For the two years Abigail was not attending college she worked to help support her family, which added to the objection of her going to school so far away from home. She expressed that her friends understand her reasons for leaving, while her family were uneasy until they visited the St. John’s campus. Her family appreciated the fact that St. John’s was a good quality Catholic school, a large part of their life in Texas.

The real reason Abigail decided to attend college in New York? She believes her passion for Asian pop culture; especially music would be more accepted and appreciative in a city like New York rather than Texas. She even remembers the song that got her captivated by the genre, “Gee” by Girls Generation. She recounted advice she received from someone in Texas who told her that getting an education in New York would give her an edge on the magazine industry in Texas, although she does not plan on going back.

Along with being a role model for her three younger siblings, this Texas native is already making a statement at St. John’s by writing in the entertainment section of the Torch. We should be very interested in seeing where this aspiring magazine owner can take the Asian pop culture scene in New York.

So before this assignment I had always wanted to write Kpop related articles for my school paper, but was always too afraid to suggest it to my editor, but after being interviewed by Kelly, she inspired me to go for it, so I did! I don't know why I was so worried, my editor was all for it! I had just suggested an album review on SNSD's new mini-album Hoot that came out on October 24, but she thought the idea was so cool that she said I could do a 900-word artist review on them. A 900 word article as a contributing writer that's a big deal...on my FAVORITE kpop band ever that I am freakishly obsessed over?!?! NO PROBLEM!!!! I was so excited and eager.

So the newspaper came out a few weeks ago and I was so excited, I got an ENTIRE half page (vertically lol) AND they used my absolute FAVORITE picture of SNSD ever!! Here's a screencap of the PDF version of it. - It's my favorite picture because Hyoyeon is front and center for once and she looks gorgeous! :)

Anyway, the reason I'm writing about this - so I was proud of my story, my friends were happy for me, we taped it on my wall along with my other stories, whatever, I was content and that was that. BUT THEN, I found my article on the paper's online website...and OMFG I could cry of happiness. 10 people "liked" my story on Facebook and it was tweeted once. AND they used my second favorite picture of SNSD (here's a screencap)!!! - It's my second favorite picture of them because when I was first captivated by "Gee" and decided to Google "SNSD", that was the first picture I ever saw of them and I instantly fell in love.

So, being sooo proud that 10 people had "liked" my story, I posted it on Facebook and tweeted it. Which caused my friends to like it as well; then my friend Kellie and my mom reposted it on Facebook...and now it has 50 "likes", 50!! I don't think I have that many friends who care enough to click on a link, let alone a link about kpop lol, but I guess I do. But it doesn't matter that it has 50 "likes" all from my friends, the thing I'm most proud of is that before I posted it on my Facebook and my friends liked it - there were 10 random people I DON'T know who genuinely liked it enough to "like" it! ♥ I feel so proud and accomplished, and I feel EXTRA happy that it happens to be on an article about SNSD! ♥

AND one person even went as far as to COMMENT on the story! (Lookie here!) That was just even more touching to me. ♥

After I found out that my story was liked and commented on, I went snooping for my other stories, and they had no "likes" or comments. So then I went through other stories online of other writers and none of them were liked or commented on either, just mine! And the other stories were written of waaaay more popular subjects that people would want to read about (Four Lokos being banned in New York soon?!) That is just crazy to me (that people liked my story on SNSD, not about the Four Lokos being banned lol).

So yeah, I just wanted to share my proudest moment and accomplishment so far in college, and in my journalism career. :) HERE is the article in its entirety if you want to give it a read. :)

Quick Thoughts About Thanksgiving

I've been putting off writing a formal introduction to this new blog of mine, but it's Thanksgiving and I have a few things I want to get off my chest so I figured now was as good a time as any.
So first off, hi, I'm Abbyelectric, and I've been a blogger for many, many years on livejournal (here) but I finally made the switch (not completely I'm still going to keep up with lj!) to Blogspot. :) I'm a Mexican from Texas who's obsessed with Asian culture but I have other interests that I tend to obsess over as well which just comes out chaotic (hence the "Electric Chaos" title).

Anyway, on to the reason I'm blogging now: Thanksgiving! There are only a few minutes left of the holiday here, however there are still 2 more hours left where I cam from so this still counts to me. :P

So every year I, like many others celebrating this American holiday, think of what they're thankful for and it's usually the same things, family, friends, etc. And I agree to some extent, however these are my thoughts on being thankful for Thanksgiving. I'll try to keep it as short as possible because I'm quite the rambler!

1) First of all, people should be thankful for their lives every morning they get to see another day.

2) I'm honestly so thankful for my roommate Emmie. This is my freshman year in college and transitioning from Texas to New York was honestly a lot harder than I ever imagined. I was so eager to leave my hometown with not a single glance back, I never thought I'd miss it as much as I do now. However, through this entire cultural/geographical/life changing experience has been my roommate, a New York native, who's been by my side the enitre time. I lucked out in getting roomed with her, and it is because of her I was able to spend a pleasant Thanksgiving upstate NY with her family while I was unable to go back to Texas for the break. If it weren't for h, I'd be stuck on the ghost town of a campus during this time!

3) Lastly, I am thankful for my sense of sound. I know, it sounds somewhat weird but think about it, what's the one sense you CANNOT live without? For me, it most definitely has to be sound. Sight comes in close second, when I think of all the beautiful sights and movies available to us, however I absolutely cannot even begin to imagine life without music!!! Think of how dominant music and sound in general is in everyday life, think of not being able to speak or have your voice be heard? That is just a world I cannot fathom, as a chatterbox journalist haha.

So these are the things that I am usually thankful for daily, but just extra thankful for today! :)
I hope all you readers out there appreciate everything you have in your life and are thankful for it not just today but everyday! A "thanks" or appreciation can go a long way!

-Abbyelectric

P.S. I wrote this all on my Blackberry so sorry for any errors and sounding rushed and stuff, also I'm usually not this polite/formal hahaha.
